Historic Charleston Foundation Award

Second Presbyterian Church recently received a very important award from the Historic Charleston Foundation. At their 75th Anniversary Charter Day Celebration on April 28, 2022, the Robert N.S. and Patti Foos Whitelaw Founders Award was presented for restoration of the church bell tower and front portico.

The restoration was made possible partly by the financial contributions of the congregation and donors from the community. The Historic Charleston Foundation recognized the excellence of the repairs in both the correct historic materials used and the quality of the craftsmanship. Additional donors have generously contributed to continue the restoration beyond the bell tower and portico. Now the work is almost complete on the south side of the sanctuary. Available funds, however, are almost exhausted and additional contributions will allow the east and hopefully the north sides to be completed.

Thank you to everyone who has stewarded and supported the restoration work so far. As long as funds are available, work on the church building will continue. Help sustain the repairs by giving online or contact the church office at 843.723.9237.
