Dear Friends In Christ —
Jesus rocks! The more I engage (or, more properly, am engaged by) Jesus- the narrative, the stories, the episodes, the escapades, the journey, his intention, integrity, his cleverness- the more I’m convicted. I’m convinced that my capture by Jesus when I was a small boy has not only charted the course of my life, but given me purpose, direction, joy and love. So my life’s work is to share this Jesus that you and all others may know the joy that I and other believers know.
This week we encounter Jesus who has arrived in Jerusalem – a city over which he weeps. He made straight for the temple, causes a ruckus, and takes up residence teaching. The temple authorities have lost patience. The crowds adore him. They look to trap him in insurrection and blasphemy, but he navigates their attempts with skill. The message is to be a good citizen within your priorities. There is a simple message for us in our text this week as we, together, will shape the nature and scope of our work for the realm of God.
We will gather strength in communion with each other and our Savior. Worth braving the elements.
See you in worship –
