We love our college students! Second Presbyterian is only three blocks from the College of Charleston campus, so cars are not necessary to join us on a Sunday morning. Our church family also has a long history of being a church home to many students from MUSC and the Citadel, including providing host families for Cadets. We’re excited about the energy that our students bring, as they often take the lead roles in our community service projects and mentoring our youth. So if you’re in college or working on your graduate degree, law school or medical school, please consider making Second Church your Charleston church home.
Join us for worship Sundays at 10:30 a.m. - We’re a progressive, affirming congregation where everybody feels welcomed. Though we’re an historic church, we’re not stuffy. You’ll fit right in whether you’re in jeans and flip flops or dressed in your Sunday best. There are college students up in the choir and in the nursery on Sundays, so stay for fellowship on the portico each Sunday or for Second Sunday Lunch to get a chance to meet them too.
Distance from Colleges and Universities:
Charleston School of Law: 2 Blocks
College of Charleston: 3 Blocks
Trident Technical College: 2 & 4 Blocks
Medical University of South Carolina: 7 Blocks
The Citadel Military College of South Carolina: 5-minute drive and is on CARTA Route 20 (King Street/Meeting). The bus stops at the edge of Wragg Square on Meeting Street.
Journey is a college arm of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery that was an extension out of Second Presbyterian for many years. Journey continues to meet at The College of Charleston and The Citadel for a unique worship set followed by Q&A and discussion like that fostered at Second Presbyterian Church.
