SERMON SNAPSHOT: Sunday, November 28, 2021

Dear Friends in Christ –

Advent is a season of sighs…. Kate Bowler suggests a season of almost… a time when we, thanks to our liturgical season, have permission to wish, not in a flaccid way, but to hope for, yearn for relief from rancor, release from what binds us and restoration of that which we are promised as followers of Jesus.

This Sunday our text from Luke begins with what could be taken from the headlines of yesterday. They’re apocalyptic, i.e. a revelation, a revealing of stark, harsh realities but Jesus offers the antidote!

This Sunday we baptize Merritt and Hyatt Tenpas. We decorate the tree in the sanctuary after church. We take Jesus' words to heart: “stand up and raise your heads.”  We will stand tall with chins up. Why? Because our redemption draws near.

See you in church –

WORSHIP SAFETY GUIDELINES: Due to the substantial rate of COVID-19 community transmission, the CDC continues to recommend indoor masking in public settings for everyone. While a large portion of our congregation is vaccinated, there is a significant number of children who have not yet had the opportunity to be vaccinated, which affects the health and safety of the vulnerable and immunocompromised among us. Please continue to wear a face mask in church, even if you are fully vaccinated. Please worship from home if you are exhibiting any COVID-like symptoms, are aware of an exposure, or have been asked by a school or other institution to quarantine or isolate.
